The following factors make the RII proposition compelling:

Value-added services: Unlike many competitors, RII offers advisory services and grants to help filmmakers secure presales. By using RII’s support, and network of connections the filmmaker will have a better chance of achieving success.

Profitable budget ranges: RII will offer financing to independent film projects with production budgets in the range of $500,000 to $5,000,000 which are not being serviced by competitors in the financing marketplace (empirical research has shown that independent films with a budget under $2,500,000 are the most profitable).

RII will support films that can make a difference: By providing positive minority role models and realistic portrayals of minorities or under-represented foreign cultures in a positive light, negative attitudes and belief systems can be changed not only domestically, but also internationally. Films with funding assistance from RII will foster a greater appreciation of cultural differences and will assist in erasing and reversing decades of negative ethnic stereotypes. It is the intent of RII to perpetuate an increased global awareness of historical contributions, sacrifices and achievements of diverse cultures, ethnicity’s, religious groups, gays, lesbians and women.

Economic opportunity: Providing funding for the development and production of independent films that meets RII’s criteria will provide economic opportunity for women and minorities and will contribute to an increase in the number of influential minorities and women in decision-making roles within the entertainment and media industry.

Providing the RISE (Reel Image Seal of Excellence) stamp of approval: All projects funded by RII must meet the criteria and be awarded a RISE. This will serve to promote the filmmaker and the content of the film both locally and globally.

Focus on niche market: RII will provide funding in the lower range, content budgets of from $500,000 to $2,500,000. RII’s maximum funding commitment for a specific project is $2,500,000. In addition to meeting RII’s underwriting criteria the project must also meet RII’s film content eligibility requirements (see “RISE”). This requirement is unique to RII. Funding will be approved only for those films whose content has a storyline of diversity and portrays minorities in a realistic, redemptive and to the highest degree possible, positive manner.

Dedicated governing board: RII has a highly dedicated, experienced, well-connected Board of Directors that is committed to the mission and success of RII.
